Join us to prepare for the challenge of a lifetime! We’ll use Lobuche Peak as a warm up and then climb the Khumbu Ice Fall on Mt. Everest, finishing at Camp 2.
The Eastern Mountain Sports Adventure Experts have teamed up with Asian Trekking of Nepal to bring you the opportunity of a lifetime: a guided ascent of Lobuche East followed by a climb up Everest’s famous Khumbu Ice Fall and on to Camp 2 on Everest.
If you’re an aspiring Everest climber, or just want to experience what makes this climb epic, this trip is the most comprehensive way to develop the skills needed to summit the highest peak on the planet and see how far you can push yourself.
After few days in Kathmandu, we’ll head up to the Khumbu region of Nepal. Our warmup climb’s base camp will be set at the foot of Lobuche Peak (20,070’), and we’ll use this climb to evaluate your climbing skills. Our experienced Sherpa staff, along with our top Eastern Mountain Sports Climbing School Guides, will provide additional instruction, helping to build each climber’s confidence. Lobuche is considered a “Trekking Peak”, but don’t let that fool you -- the climb is steep and can be especially difficult under heavy snow conditions.
After our ascent of Lobuche, we’ll head over to Everest Base Camp where we’ll team up with this year’s Eco-Everest Expedition, lead by Dawa Steven Sherpa, general manager of Asian Trekking. Steven’s Everest Team will be climbing this year to bring awareness to Global Warming and the direct effects it’s having on the Nepali people. We’ll be joining their team for our climb up the Khumbu Ice Fall to Camps 1 and 2. Some of our acclimatization time at EBC will be spent learning to walk safely across those dreaded ladders spanning the crevasses on Everest.
Includes 3 day mountaineering course with the EMS Climbing School in NH

You must be as fit as possible before this trip, or you will suffer. Climbing at extreme altitudes is no piece of cake, so call us if you have any questions about your fitness level.
Is This Climb Right for You?
Even if you’re fit enough to join this trip, you still need to have people skills.
When signing up for any expedition, you need to understand that you’re now part of a TEAM. The only way to summit any mountain is through the efforts of everyone involved. If you know you don’t “play well with others” and don’t enjoy group dynamics, then this won’t be the trip for you. We do everything in our power to encourage the TEAM approach on every climb and have found this is key to a successful trip. We encourage you to come with a good attitude and an open mind.
Information About Our Staff
Eastern Mountain Sports has been providing professional guiding services for 30 years. Our guides are AMGA certified, with years of experience climbing all over the world. Unlike other companies, we hire our guides as year round full time employees. This means that our staff stays with us for many years and can share those years of experience with our customers. The guide that took you on your first climb 10 years ago is most likely still working for EMS today.
For this climb, we’ll be taking three of our EMS guides from our Lake Placid, Gunks and North Conway locations.
Successfully tackling the Khumbu Ice Fall requires a solid Sherpa staff to lead the way. EMS has teamed up Asian Trekking, with the most experienced mountaineering agency in Nepal. With over 25 years experience leading expeditions on Mount Everest and many other peaks, our partnership with Asian Trekking will provide you with the, cream of the crop when it comes to high altitude Sherpa staff.
