Join EMS and their professional guides on this adventurous Halloween eve ascent of the mighty Big Slide Mountain, in the heart of the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks!
On the second day of the trip we will head out for a late day climb and descend under the light of our headlamps. Our nights will be spent at Grace Camp, located 3.5 miles deep in the backwoods at the base of the Great Range. Sleeping will be bunkhouse style.
All food will be provided and divided up among the group to be carried in for meals. Cooking will be done by your guide but all members should be ready to help out when necessary. A moderate fitness level will be needed to truly enjoy the thrills of this trip. If you have questions regarding fitness or training please feel free to contact us (888-755-TREK).
Note-these dates are during a very warm month. Please be aware of high temperatures and the possibility of an afternoon thunderstorm are also factors. Prepare appropriately for your needs.

Itinerary
Day one: As a team we will meet at Marcy Airfield located north of Keene Valley. The group will get introduced and answer any questions. After splitting up the food for the weekend we can carpool up to The Garden Trailhead. Carpooling will save on parking fees and leave room for other hikers. From the Garden we will hike into Grace Camp. The remaining part of the day is for relaxing, talking, gathering water, preparing dinner and getting ready for the next days hike.
Day two: This is our big hike day! We will take our time in the morning, enjoy a nice breakfast and depart on a short hike around the campground to get our legs warmed up. In the afternoon we will either hike to Bushnell Falls (2675’) or to the summit of Short Job (2828’) for lunch. After, we will quickly return to camp and prepare our packs for the evening Halloween hike up Big Slide Mountain (4240’, Adirondacks 27th Highest Peak). You will need a dependable headlamp, extra batteries and warm clothes for this portion of the hike. We will be reaching the summit sometime before sunset and descending under the moonlit sky back to camp. Upon returning to camp we will fix a late dinner and share the day’s highlights.
Day three: Sleep in a little, you deserve it! Leave the cooking up to us as we prepare a delicious breakfast to reenergize for the hike home. After a relaxing morning we will pack up and hike out to our vehicles and part ways. This is a travel home day, so we will be out by early afternoon.
